Manoj Bajpayee, was born in to a family of farmer on 23rd April 1969 in Belwa. Belwa is a small village near the town Narkatiaganj in West Champaran, Bihar. His primary education (up to fourth standard) was completed in Belwa. Then he moved to Bettiah and got his schooling from Krist Raja High School. He did his graduation in history stream from Ramjas College. During his holidays he used to visit his parents and helped out his father in the fields.

Manoj’s family members were very much influenced by prevailing Hindi cinema and full of film buffs, hence they named his son’s name after the famous actor Manoj Kumar. It was quite natural for Manoj to be inclined towards films and theatre. Manoj later moved to New Delhi for higher studies, where he developed interests in theatre and acting.

During his college education in New Delhi he became part of college drama group and became a popular theatre actor. During his stay at New Delhi he applied for acting course at National School of Drama but unfortunately his application got rejected several times. Depressed by his failure to join NSD he almost tried to commit suicide but by the god grace he revived from depression.By the advice of his friend actor Raghubir Yadav, he joined a workshop in New Delhi which was conducted by famous theatre actor Barry John. Coincidently Shahrukh Khan was his theatre-mates.

In the year 1994 he came in contact with film maker Shekhar Kapur and he debuted his first feature film in Bandit Queen.He also acted in several TV serials and small roles in Bollywood films. But everyone noticed in Bollywood for his extraordinary performance in Ram Gopal Varma’s crime movie Satya in the year 1998. He portrayed the role of gangster Bhiku Mhatre. The film was a commercial success and appreciated by the critics.

He got several awards for his exemplary role in this film.

Manoj Bajpayee being a Bollywood actor has also done films in Telugu and Tamil languages. He acted in the Telugu romantic film Prema Katha , happy , Puli and vedam .Samar and Anjaan were two tamil films of Manoj Bajpayee.

Manoj Bajpayee received two national awards and four film fare awards.

Aligarh was a film made of real life story of a professor in Aligarh Muslim University. Manoj Bajpayee played the role of professor Ramchandra Siras, in the film. Manoj Bajpayee received Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor in 2016 for the film Aligarh

Personal life.

Manoj Bajpayee first married in early 1990s with a girl who was from his home state Bihar but latter they divorced. As he has not spoken about his first marriage a very few information is available in print media.

In the year 1998 Shabana Raza met with Manoj Bajpayee and they became good friend during the release of movie satya and kareeb. In the year 2003 they realized that there might be more in their relationship that just being friends and got married.In February 2011, the couple were blessed with a daughter, whom they named Ava Nayla Bajpayee.

Though he has not played a protagonist role in many films, but able to make a lasting impact on audience by his acting.
